THE GAME OF LIFE, WITH NEW CONSEQUENCES

by Howard E.; Morseburg

PASCARELLA GOES AFTER THE CHILDREN!

Hasbro, Inc., a company famous for producing children's games, has gone into league with the Devil*, Visa International, and now the two of them are gently introducing your children into a form of human bondage, credit cards and debt.  They're perverting the "venerable finance game" (to quote Kathy Kristof), The Game of Life, a realistic and educational tool that has been useful in teaching children about money and responsibility for many years.  Now, instead of cash, it has been altered to a new theme, switched over, and become a credit card world for the young 'uns.

Good ol' boy, Carl Pascarella, who has long bragged that his goal was to make Visa and plastic supercede cash and checks, wants to take over control of your money. As the mobsters used to try to control the small businesses in cities Brooklyn and extract their protection money, his goal for Visa is to take a percentage of everyone's money, every dollar that moves, and now, he's found a new angle, get the kids involved by changing the game.  Wait for them after school, not behind a tree but at home, and sandbag them there.  Whoever dreamed up that partnership, to me, really has a perverted mentality.

That percentage, always that percentage, he wants his viggerish, that little bit of every dollar spent.  It's smart thinking.  Marlon Brando could have played the part of the CEO of Visa, if they'd ever taken note of the insidiousness involved with this group and written a book about it; can't you imagine high-level meetings that resemble scenes from The Godfather, discussing how to get into your pockets?

Well, I thought Kathy Kristof of the L.A. Times was a bubblehead back about 15 years ago when she tried to convince me that the new Air Miles plan was thought up by men of high principles, that this was going to make small business owners rich, that it would increase our business.  "No," I said, "guys like Sanford Weill are out of feather their own nests, not someone else's.  It's a scheme that benefits them, but it is made to look like everyone benefits, but they don't."  Ah, yes, she cut me short, and I hung up, thinking, "Leapin' Lizards, Sandy."  Damn.

Robbing banks is big and bold.  Four guys and guns, and a holdup for forty, fifty thousand, and then whole country is searching for them.  But, figure a way to take just 1/10th of one percent from 300 million people every time they make a purchase and no one notices it, yet is is a much bigger haul, humongous.  I wonder if the nation's financial writers have figured that one out yet?  I doubt it.

So, now Hasbro uses the Visa logo, and every kid sits there and plays the part of Edgar Bergen's dummy for Carl.  They should put a dog collar and a chain, with Carl holding it, on the box as a warning, but they won't.  Will they include Air Miles, Hotel stays, Paris and Berlin, as well?  Will they even mention to Amanda and Allison Beacham that the grocer, the candy maker and toy stores are all being screwed by the Credit Card Cartel.  I doubt it.  Hasbro probably has a few bubbleheads working for it who cooperated in designing this, but someone there must have quit in protest and denounced the scheme to Al, the CEO, didn't they?

*Devil - we each have our own, but should we trust Visa as a substitute for our national currency.  Is it "In God We Trust" or "In the Devil we Trust"?  When someone hands you a twenty dollar bill with In God We Trust on it, you get your full twenty bucks.  When they hand you a Visa card, the Devil takes his due out of that twenty first, the devil's viggerish, and then, takes his due out of the cardholder as well.  It's an old saying, The Devil gets his due.

Can a Devil be made of plastic?  Ask those who are deep in debt on a Visa card!

PERVERT, PERVERTS, PERVERSION

Def. -  Pervert - practice sophistry; change the meaning of or be vague about it in order to mislead or deceive.  Change the intent or purpose or function of something.

To change the original intent and purpose of a game, which was the teaching of the proper management of finances, to one that appears to solely benefit the Credit Card Cartel, to endorse and promote plastic, the leading cause of financial disasters, divorces and bankruptcies in the U.S., seems to be a perversion of the ideas of the inventor/designer of that game. A group of people working together to "change the meaning, etc." might be called perverts then, if I interpret the above definition correctly. (thefreedictionary.com)  America has suffered from the pervasion of our banking industry, from one which recommended the wise handling of money to one selling debt; now our children will be perverted by this same immoral code of debt.

Just about every contract with the banking industry involving Visa, MasterCard and other issuers of plastic is purposely deceiving and too complex for adults, even for practicing or teaching attorneys, and by its very nature, non-understandable for children.  Credit Cards are issued for a single purpose, to lead people into debt , for their profits are made on the collection of interest and penalties, and none other.  Any version of The Game of Life dictated and approved by Visa must necessarily be contrary to the practice of good financial management, otherwise it would be to the detriment of Visa International and its supporting financial institutions.  Debt and debtors is part and parcel of the use of credit cards, and unsophisticated debtors enrich Visa.
